WRIWA has been focusing on establishment, governance and representation processes during the first 6 months of its existence. During this time WRIWA has made submissions to two WA Government consultation processes:
- Western Australia Container Deposit Scheme – Discussion Paper
- Waste Levy and Waste Management: Proposed Approaches for Legislative Reform.
The WRIWA President was also invited to by the Minister for Environment to participate in a Waste Roundtable in November 2017 to gather early input to the development of a new Western Australian Waste Strategy.
The future operation of WRIWA will involve closer consultation with members, primarily via Members Forums and Events where industry views on policy and regulatory change and reform can be discussed and collated to develop a WRIWA position that can be submitted to Government and its agencies.
